There are immense benefits that can be derived from consuming fresh fruits. Eating the freshest produce of the season means you get your daily dose of vitamins without spending much.

Living in the UAE, you would have noticed that the fresh produce aisles in major supermarkets are always bursting with a broad range of fruits. Apart from locally grown fruits, there is a lot of variety available imported from countries abroad. Be it the citrus or other types, we are really spoilt for choice.

Some ways of consuming fruits are by eating them whole or by juicing them. For those who have time, a unique way of deriving the goodness of fruits is by mashing them or pureeing them, and then applying the puree as a facial mask. Fruits such as papayas, strawberries and bananas lend themselves very well to these facials because they are soft in texture.

It is up to you whether you want to use them at room temperature or after they have been in the refrigerator for a while. Chilled fruit is preferred as the cold also helps close and tighten skin pores.

You can mix yogurt and honey into the fruit puree for a moisturizing effect. But before applying the fruit mask, steam your face to unclog pores. Gently massage a herbal scrub into your skin to help slough off dead skin cells. Once done, apply the fruit mask, being careful to cover the entire face and neck; avoid the eye area. Once dry, dip a washcloth in warm water and wipe away the mask gently before rinsing off the mask with lukewarm water. Now that's cleansing, refreshing and moisturizing the natural way!
