Zap away those untimely zits

A break out of zits or pimples, acne and blemishes can happen at the worst possible time, leaving one disturbed and exasperated. Those having such skin problems sometimes try breaking the boil with their fingers, which is not advisable as it could lead to a permanent scar on the skin.

Bacteria, sudden hormonal imbalance, or, on the extreme end, a reaction to creams and lotions or certain allergens are among the few factors that can cause an untimely outbreak.

Most consider resorting to cosmetic products to get rid of the issue, but they could well just be temporary solutions with varying results depending on your skin.

There are some home remedies you may want to try which are a sure-shot solution to get rid of pimples, boils and blemishes.

Dip a clean cotton swab in freshly-squeezed lemon juice and apply to the pimple/acne before going to bed – this should dry out the boil. The same procedure can be done using the juice of neem leaves. Just boil a few leaves in water and strain the juice, then it’s ready for use.

Cinnamon powder with drops of lemon juice left over the pimples overnight and then rinsed with lukewarm water the next morning is an effective remedy for those not having sensitive skin.

Garlic is considered an antioxidant which aids in curing zits. Cut a garlic clove into half, rub gently on the affected areas, and rinse after five minutes. This can be repeated more than once a day.

Handy Hints
• Dip cotton in lemon juice and apply to pimples
• Cinnamon powder with lemon juice can also be used
• Cosmetic products work depending on skin type
