Companies are increasingly looking at professionals who are trained in soft skills to become more effective in conducting business and assuming leadership roles.
Unlike MBA programs where you hone theoretical and technical skills over six months to one year, soft skill courses are mostly for a shorter duration.
Some of the popular workshops are time management, business intelligence, crisis management, strategy planning, high performance leadership and business etiquette.
Time management workshops look at improving work efficiency by prioritising goals. Business intelligence focuses on putting in place processes that can improve business decision making.
Some soft skill institutes give special attention to behaviour patterns and have workshops in assertiveness, influencing and negotiation. There are also industry-specific soft skill workshops training people in customer satisfaction over telephone.
There are many private institutes spread all over the UAE which run soft skill courses, some customising programmes to meet participants’ requirements.
