Flying high with aviation studies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

As the region's airports and airlines undergo ambitious expansion, the job prospects of aviation professionals are also expected to soar. A number of short-term professional aviation courses are currently on offer which, according to industry experts, can serve as wings in one's career.

Flight dispatch course – This seven-week course prepares trainees to become qualified flight dispatchers. In cooperation with the pilot, flight dispatchers furnish a flight plan that enables the aircraft to arrive at its destination on schedule and at the lowest operating cost. The duration of this course is seven weeks and it is open to high school graduates.

Aviation security management – This is a course recommended for airport managers, and passenger and cargo operation providers who are taught the detailed aspects of civil aviation security regulations.

Airport emergency planning management – Module includes the latest methodology used to respond to any aircraft emergency including coordinated response among aircraft operators, airport authorities, ground service providers and state emergency response agencies.

Airport commercial and strategic management – This course trains aviation professionals on managing airports and boosting its non-aeronautical revenue through various retail offerings. It also studies ways of increasing passenger and commercial traffic at the airports.

Most of these courses are conducted at the Emirates Aviation College in Dubai. Training facilities are also available at Gulf Centre for Aviation Studies in Abu Dhabi.
