Architects and engineers are some of the most in demand in the country, with construction an ongoing business here.
With a long list of universities and educational institutes in the UAE, there are many short courses that architects and engineers can take to further improve their skills.
Architects may enrol in the Autodesk Revit course which enables them to create full 3D project models and set them up in working drawings. Another software course is Tekla which teaches students to produce 3D models and fabrication information. The Environment and Sustainability, and Green Building Design courses basically focus on the principles of building sustainable communities. One may also opt for Landscape Design wherein students are exposed to the basics of landscape architecture like designing open spaces.
Meanwhile, short courses for engineers are aimed at bridging the knowledge gap in the oil, gas, process, power and petrochemical industries. Composed of seminars and workshops, these courses are an excellent opportunity to balance theory and practical applications with industry best practices. Short courses available are Project Management (also for architects), Environmental Engineering and Waste Management, Construction Claims and Disputes Resolution, Mechanical and Electrical Planning, Health and Safety, Safe and Green Environment in Construction Management, among others, all of which can help one advance his career.
• Short courses can add to one’s current skills set
• These balance theory and industry best practices
