Continuously working in front of the computer can cause eye strain and other vision-related problems. To avoid these, find time to let your eyes rest.
Take short breaks in between work and blink often to avoid dry eyes. Rub your palms until they feel warm and keep them on your eyes for 60 seconds. You can try eye movement exercises by rotating your eyeballs in clockwise direction, from left to right and from top to bottom.
Follow the 20-20-20 rule. Take your eyes from the computer screen every 20 minutes and gaze at any distant object at least 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
The resolution and contrast of your screen should be adjusted to your comfort level. Use dark letters and light background on the screen. Have proper light setting, keep the screen clean and keep the brightness of your computer screen at medium.
Position the top of your screen at or below eye level. The distance between the screen and your eyes should be around 50 to 70 cm. Avoid any glare from the window or the ceiling. You can also consider having an anti-glare screen.
Consider using computer glasses that are made specifically for computer users. Looking at plants or a green color is one easy way to relax your eyes. Setting an interesting green wallpaper will also do.
