When shopping around for your home entertainment center, it can be easy to get distracted by the plethora of deals and bargains on offer across Dubai. However, as with all large purchases, it is always best to shop around to get a quality system and not regret your choice two months later when a new model comes out at half the price.
Before you even shop for a sound system, keep in mind what it's going to be plugged into. Nowadays, most sound systems are more integrated, connecting your TV, satellite, DVD and CD player to all play through one system. You'll need to make sure they are all compatible with Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound to get the ultimate sound experience.
A sound system consists of a receiver/amplifier and a speaker system. The receiver is the centerpiece of the home theater system as it routes sound and picture from various sources such as the TV, DVD and satellite TV to the speakers. Your receiver should be Dolby Digital ready, have good subwoofer power and a sufficient number of audio inputs to facilitate all equipment.
The second part of the home theater system is the speaker component which is vital to put the rest of your top-quality equipment to good use. There are six components of a speaker system which can be bought separately or as a set: two front speakers, two rear speakers, a center channel speaker and a powered subwoofer.
If you purchase different speakers from different manufacturers that do not match, you will likely hear different sounds coming from each speaker. Five identical speakers of a lower quality will work better than a mix and match set of high-quality speakers from various manufacturers.
• Try to buy speakers from the same manufacturer.
• Ensure the receiver/amplifier is Dolby Digital ready.
• Ensure the compatibility of other components.
