Swim in style this summertime

Buying a swimsuit can be quite confusing and intimidating due to our body shape insecurities, not knowing what suits us, and the plethora of choices out there – bikini, one-piece, tankini, separates, swim dress, and burkini (Islamic swimwear).

Keep the following points in mind to make shopping for your swimsuit an easier task:

• Select a suit that draws the eye to the most flattering part of your figure with the use of a bright color or pattern

• If you want to add more volume to your bust or hips, choose a suit with ruffles in that area. Use ruched fabric to give the impression of less volume

• Take attention away from your waist with one-piece and high-waist swimsuits

• Focus attention on your waist and away from your hips or bust with tankinis. Make your hips look curvier with a boy shorts-style bottom piece

• Make your legs look longer with high-cut bikini bottoms

• Draw attention to the bust area with triangle, bandeau or halter tops. If you have a large bust, choose a swimsuit with wide set straps and an underwire and a thick chest band for extra support

• If you are not comfortable revealing your skin but love to swim and take part in water sports, fret no more. There is a wide range of Islamic swimwear available everywhere

• Mix and match pieces, e.g. combine a bright-printed bikini top with a solid bottom piece

Handy Hints:

• Select a swimsuit that flatters your body shape

• Tankinis are great for emphasizing the waist area

• A range of Islamic swimwear is available everywhere
